A fun project completed for the Housekeeping department at the local hotel and waterpark Great Wolf Lodge. They went a different route in asking me to do this, and the result was not only fun, but well received! It was a fun project, a unique challenge, and a nice little addition to my portfolio.
One of the various ongoing projects of mine, a new sketchbook cover. The nice thing about the Moleskin cashiers journals, besides being able to choose from blank, lined or graph paper– or its nice size– is that the brown of the cover makes the perfect middle ground so both white and black inks really get a chance to shine together.
Eventually, once I figure out an avenue for it other than Etsy.com (It’s become a bit of a monster…), this and the other notebooks I’ve been working on will be going up for sale. With any luck, I’ll also be getting a variety of my cards up as well, so you can cover any holiday in style!
As I said they would! I think Sunday is a mighty fine time to upload a week’s work of critters, don’t you? And this weeks’ selection is pretty amusing.
Sadly, with Christmas (oh, no, I said it!!) only two months away, I’m diving into a season of work I won’t be able to post until after the holidays. That being said, there’s a handful of other, not gift works in progress I’ll be continuing as well as I keep going with this stride I’ve struck recently. It’s good to be getting back into the flow of making art! Who’d have thunk?
I’ve also decided to maybe start showcasing, once a month or so, artist friends of mine for you to investigate and follow as well. I’m gifted with a plethora of talented friends and acquaintances, so please give them a look through in the coming months!
A delightful little Work In Progress my father helped title for me. Just a silly little something I look forward to turning into a poster once it’s colored and ready to go! Who doesn’t love a line of prancing poodles?
note: So everyone knows, since this photo is smaller than the original for copyright/protective reasons, the mouse at the end has a cotton ball on its tail and an upside-down bottle cap for a crown!
I’ve been enjoying making these little brown Moleskin illustrations as gifts for friends and think I might try and do a few for selling online.
These here were done with ink and brush, white added in later with white gel pen. They were wonderful and fun and a little bit different! And, best of all, my friends adored them.
Now I need to think of some fun new things to put on a few for selling~
Like every artist, I have a variety of projects I’ve been working on as of late. Three different book projects, plus a comic book/webcomic and an illustrated quilt. I don’t have much time to work on any one for very long, but I wanted to toss a few little snippets up here to kind of show everyone that I’ve been working hard and am, of coarse, still trying to work my way into the world.
The first four snapshots are of a pair of posters I’ve been working over for my webcomic, Tricks, Twins & Thieves, to get the ball rolling on possible merchandising material for the future. Each original drawing is 11×17 inches, and they will be colored eventually! The bottom two shots are little illustrations for a poem/book “This Is A Poem For You”. It’s a personal venture and will be kept between me and the one who wrote it (most likely) but I’m putting a fair bit of effort into it and look forward to showing it to everyone else once it’s complete!
You can tell my focus as wandered a little bit, but that’s the point of this exercise, right? I’m just relieved to have at least a little bit of art in each day! ❤ (Except for the one’s I miss– Shhh!)
I’m sorry, guys, I really don’t mean to forget about posting things on my blog! So many medias to put publish work on these days, what with Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram and my Website itself (simplykitts.com), I get a little distracted. Thank God I don’t have a twitter yet! Ugh…
Anyway, I’ve started a new project called “INKlings” in a cute little sketchbook (7 x 7 inches) to help promote a little bit of creativity in my every day life– which is quite hectic and, sadly, miserable at the moment. But this fun little project is geared to keep the juices flowing and have at least a little tiny piece of art daily. I’ve already missed a few days, but I’m working hard to keep it going, so I hope you’ll enjoy it along with me. I’m working to get in the practice of updating a daily image on my art Facebook and Tumblr, while here I’m going to do my very best to update once a week with all the strange, nonsensical things that were “arted” throughout the week! I’ll be doing one a day, at least (sometimes more?) and the goal is to use ink and brush only and keep the miniature illustrations to a sitting. No long, extravagant something, just quick, whimsical and fun curiosities.
SO! Here’s the first batch– I hope you’ll treat them kindly! ❤
Finally time for the chilling of the seasons.
Can you tell I’m ready for winter?
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything, and I’m sorry for that! I’m working my hardest to keep projects running, and I haven’t done much work that isn’t related to the webcomic I’ve started up or art inspired by fandoms I’ve fallen into. Still, my portfolio needs some work, so it’s high time I got going on some new pieces to keep that up to date and hopefully get some work coming my way. 🙂
Here’s the start of a hopefully productive winter season!
