The deadline didn’t seem so bad a week and a half ago when I agreed to have these done by the first, but it came around surprisingly quick! Either way…
Ta da! My very first non-familial Client Work! (I hope– she hasn’t gotten back to me yet on if I’m actually done yet).
And I really enjoyed doing it. Now to figure out invoicing-stuff to make this actually professional…
Each of these pieces was sketched until they were approved, then brown up and detailed on another piece of paper in black ink, before scanning them in along with a variety of watercolor washed, and using all of them together to get this look! Let me know what you think!
edit: And one more! Minor miscommunication 🙂
Poor little straggler!
Now that Don Quixote is just about complete, it was time to move onto idea number two. I had decided in January to do “Music Through the Ages”, focusing on a variety of tshirt designs and a poster primarily. I find it interesting that, while music has progressed, from LPs to Cassettes to CDs to MP3s, it has started returning to LPs as their popularity has been re-discovered. The concept is that each of the four characters is listening to the next evolution in music, until you get to the MP3 player-person, who’s headphones’ cord will wrap all the way around the back of the tshirt and connect into the back of the turntable on the other side of the shirt. By the end of this, I’ll not only have a neat poster, but five tshirts– one with all four and one for each select person.
Anyway, these are the sketches. It has already moved into finalization, so I’ll have pictures of that up before long. 🙂
