INKlings Have Returned!!

As I said they would! I think Sunday is a mighty fine time to upload a week’s work of critters, don’t you? And this weeks’ selection is pretty amusing.

Sadly, with Christmas (oh, no, I said it!!) only two months away, I’m diving into a season of work I won’t be able to post until after the holidays. That being said, there’s a handful of other, not gift works in progress I’ll be continuing as well as I keep going with this stride I’ve struck recently. It’s good to be getting back into the flow of making art! Who’d have thunk?

I’ve also decided to maybe start showcasing, once a month or so, artist friends of mine for you to investigate and follow as well. I’m gifted with a plethora of talented friends and acquaintances, so please give them a look through in the coming months!

Something Exciting and New

Like every artist, I have a variety of projects I’ve been working on as of late. Three different book projects, plus a comic book/webcomic and an illustrated quilt. I don’t have much time to work on any one for very long, but I wanted to toss a few little snippets up here to kind of show everyone that I’ve been working hard and am, of coarse, still trying to work my way into the world.

The first four snapshots are of a pair of posters I’ve been working over for my webcomic, Tricks, Twins & Thieves, to get the ball rolling on possible merchandising material for the future. Each original drawing is 11×17 inches, and they will be colored eventually! The bottom two shots are little illustrations for a poem/book “This Is A Poem For You”. It’s a personal venture and will be kept between me and the one who wrote it (most likely) but I’m putting a fair bit of effort into it and look forward to showing it to everyone else once it’s complete!

Another Set of INKlings!

You can tell my focus as wandered a little bit, but that’s the point of this exercise, right? I’m just relieved to have at least a little bit of art in each day! ❀ (Except for the one’s I miss– Shhh!)

Enjoy!

A Bit Forgetful

I’m sorry, guys, I really don’t mean to forget about posting things on my blog! So many medias to put publish work on these days, what with Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram and my Website itself (simplykitts.com), I get a little distracted. Thank God I don’t have a twitter yet! Ugh…

Anyway, I’ve started a new project called “INKlings” in a cute little sketchbook (7 x 7 inches) to help promote a little bit of creativity in my every day life– which is quite hectic and, sadly, miserable at the moment. But this fun little project is geared to keep the juices flowing and have at least a little tiny piece of art daily. I’ve already missed a few days, but I’m working hard to keep it going, so I hope you’ll enjoy it along with me. I’m working to get in the practice of updating a daily image on my art Facebook and Tumblr, while here I’m going to do my very best to update once a week with all the strange, nonsensical things that were “arted” throughout the week! I’ll be doingΒ one a day, at least (sometimes more?) and the goal is to use ink and brush only and keep the miniature illustrations to a sitting. No long, extravagant something, just quick, whimsical and fun curiosities.

SO! Here’s the first batch– I hope you’ll treat them kindly! ❀

Finally time for the chilling of the seasons.

Finally time for the chilling of the seasons.

Can you tell I’m ready for winter?

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything, and I’m sorry for that! I’m working my hardest to keep projects running, and I haven’t done much work that isn’t related to the webcomic I’ve started up or art inspired by fandoms I’ve fallen into. Still, my portfolio needs some work, so it’s high time I got going on some new pieces to keep that up to date and hopefully get some work coming my way. πŸ™‚

Here’s the start of a hopefully productive winter season!

An Update! Woohoo!!

My goodness, it has been awhile! I haven’t forgotten about posting artwork online, I promise! I’ve been terribly busy as of late, however, and haven’t produced anything worth posting about. I’m working to fix that, and have been working away at several long term projects recently. I have a handful of books I’m working at and planning, and have started another side project under a different name that I’m playing a little close to home. Other wise, i’ve been working. A lot.

In the end, however, those are all just excuses and it’s high time I kicked my game back into gear. So, here’s a card. πŸ™‚

No Sharing on Your BirthdayA very dear friend of mine loves her rats, so it seemed fitting to make her an adorable card featuring them. As usual, the colors are a little odd (thank you scanner) but the message comes across well enough. Enjoy!

I’m heading into the biggest birthday month of the year, so there’ll be an influx in cards uploaded to the blog. I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoy making them! πŸ˜€

The Series of Thanks is Completed

And just like that, the series is completed and ready to go.

I’m a little sad to be finished with this fun mini series of cards, since I enjoyed working on them as much as I did. I’ve really done my best this time around, and I feel it comes through clearly.

Alas, it is time to move forward with a new confidence earned from a project well done, and begin tackling the next challenge I’ve designed. πŸ™‚

Onward and Upward!

Thanks for the Phone Call!!

Thanks for the Phone CallAt last!! My series is complete!

All five “Thank You Cards” are done and ready for mocking up at long last, so now it’s off to the printers to get that part done. I’ll show you the finished work once it’s done, but for now I’m excited to move onto my next task!

Star Trek movie pack, here I come!

Announcements Sent Forth!

Variety Ready to go

Commencement Announcements have been finished and officially sent out into the world.

If you aren’t sure you’re going to get one, or I don’t have your address, please let me know and get that to me ASAP, okay?

I’ve learned a valuable lesson with all of this…

… Order them professionally next. They will not only look better, but be less of a headache.

Thank You for the Raindrops

Thank You Drops

Finally in the home stretch with only one more card to go! As I draw closer to completing this series and thinking about the End of Semester show the second Friday of May, I keep thinking of ways to display or sell my hard work. It’s a little exciting, thinking about something like that in such a way, going over in my head “Should I display them as cards or hang them in frames as more traditional art?” or “What if I package them up in fives and sell them? Would people buy any?”

I wonder what I’ll decide!

The next card will be my last to finalize, and then it’s off to print and mock up. I hope you’ve been enjoying the completion of the series as much as I have, and I’m very excited to get started on my next assignment. Will I be finishing library cards, or moving onto a Star Trek movie package?

Hmm… So many choices!!!
