Finally time for the chilling of the seasons.
Can you tell I’m ready for winter?
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything, and I’m sorry for that! I’m working my hardest to keep projects running, and I haven’t done much work that isn’t related to the webcomic I’ve started up or art inspired by fandoms I’ve fallen into. Still, my portfolio needs some work, so it’s high time I got going on some new pieces to keep that up to date and hopefully get some work coming my way. 🙂
Here’s the start of a hopefully productive winter season!
My goodness, it has been awhile! I haven’t forgotten about posting artwork online, I promise! I’ve been terribly busy as of late, however, and haven’t produced anything worth posting about. I’m working to fix that, and have been working away at several long term projects recently. I have a handful of books I’m working at and planning, and have started another side project under a different name that I’m playing a little close to home. Other wise, i’ve been working. A lot.
In the end, however, those are all just excuses and it’s high time I kicked my game back into gear. So, here’s a card. 🙂
A very dear friend of mine loves her rats, so it seemed fitting to make her an adorable card featuring them. As usual, the colors are a little odd (thank you scanner) but the message comes across well enough. Enjoy!
I’m heading into the biggest birthday month of the year, so there’ll be an influx in cards uploaded to the blog. I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoy making them! 😀
A Wizardly Work in Progress
And to revamp myself and get myself going on updating my blog– as well as to get my creative juices flowing, I’ve been working on a piece just for fun when I get the chance.
This is the work that fills my sketchbooks, even if it isn’t something (yet) that’s a sellable style, things like this are what I love! And since this is my blog, I figured… Why not? I don’t have to be professional all of the time.
Where’s the fun in that?
I was right to be super excited about this assignment I set up for myself! It’s been a rocky road thus far, after taking several pages of thumbnailing before finally setting on two designs for my Star Trek: Into Darkness Poster Set. Once I’ve finished Jim Kirk, it’ll be time to play around with some charcoal and texture before assembling and coloring the 24″ x 36″ poster. I haven’t started on the “Enlist” poster yet, but I have the idea down so it’s time to start once this one is to a comfortable spot. Both need to be finished by Friday, so I’m working as hard as I can! It doesn’t look like I’ll have the popcorn bucket and cup done and ready for display by the show date, but I’ll work on them for the end of year– for myself if no one else.
I’ve also got tickets to see the premier of the show two days before the actual release date, so I’m just about as excited as possible!
Enjoy the little picture of me tiredly enjoying myself!
Guess it’s time to get back to work now! Graduation is creeping up so fast.
And just like that, the series is completed and ready to go.
I’m a little sad to be finished with this fun mini series of cards, since I enjoyed working on them as much as I did. I’ve really done my best this time around, and I feel it comes through clearly.
Alas, it is time to move forward with a new confidence earned from a project well done, and begin tackling the next challenge I’ve designed. 🙂
Onward and Upward!
At last!! My series is complete!
All five “Thank You Cards” are done and ready for mocking up at long last, so now it’s off to the printers to get that part done. I’ll show you the finished work once it’s done, but for now I’m excited to move onto my next task!
Star Trek movie pack, here I come!
Commencement Announcements have been finished and officially sent out into the world.
If you aren’t sure you’re going to get one, or I don’t have your address, please let me know and get that to me ASAP, okay?
I’ve learned a valuable lesson with all of this…
… Order them professionally next. They will not only look better, but be less of a headache.
Finally in the home stretch with only one more card to go! As I draw closer to completing this series and thinking about the End of Semester show the second Friday of May, I keep thinking of ways to display or sell my hard work. It’s a little exciting, thinking about something like that in such a way, going over in my head “Should I display them as cards or hang them in frames as more traditional art?” or “What if I package them up in fives and sell them? Would people buy any?”
I wonder what I’ll decide!
The next card will be my last to finalize, and then it’s off to print and mock up. I hope you’ve been enjoying the completion of the series as much as I have, and I’m very excited to get started on my next assignment. Will I be finishing library cards, or moving onto a Star Trek movie package?
Hmm… So many choices!!!
Such a contently happy little bunny!
This was the very first card I designed when considering doing this cute little series. Originally, the bunny was going to be a 3D element to the card, but I’m beginning to like it more as a flat piece. I won’t make my decision until I’ve mocked up both options. 🙂
Only two more left to go! Let me know what you think!
The second of my Thank You card series. Still not quite happy with it, but happy enough! 🙂 Enjoy.
Once I have these mocked up, I’ll post more pictures so you can see the 3D elements– If I go with those.
